Blue Tegus are generally very docile and are the easiest of all the tegus we keep to care for and maintain in captivity. They are the most tolerant of their keepers mistakes when it comes to maintaining their environment and their diet since they can be raised solely on an all rodent diet .Our strain of blue tegus was developed from bloodlines originating from Colombia .

Basking Temperature : 100F - 110 F

Cage Temperature : 80F - 85 F during the day and just slightly cooler at night .

Cage Lighting : Use full spectrum (UVB) or they will need D3 added to their diet .

Substrate : Cypress mulch , Orchid bark, Eucalyptus mulch

Hide box : Should be kept slightly moist but not wet to the touch

Food : this tegu is primarly carnivorous and should be fed a diet of crickets , king mealworms , rodents

Adult Coloration : can varies in shades of powder blue , blue , green , platinum. A few individuals display some orange coloration on their underside. The blue coloration does not usually begin to show untill the animals are almost 18 months of age .
